The damage in TK (Tokyo) and western Japan (Nagoya, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka) is pretty minimal. Most of the impact was on the north-east coast. Tokyo mainly affected by trains not running and people unable to get home. Transportation should be running normally from tomorrow (Monday). However we are still getting aftershocks in the 5.0 - 6.0 magnitude range pretty regularly. No way to know if there will be another big aftershock. Here's the most recent earthquakes list

- Streets are safe; stores were sold out of food this weekend, but should be starting to stock up again (see photos). Most businesses are open, but working shorter hours
- Electricity will be a problem - Tokyo power companies won't be able to meet the demand on Monday due to the nuclear plants being offline. They divided the city into 5 zones and will turn off power to those areas one at a time for a few hours - but this mostly affects the suburbs, not central Tokyo. Shouldn't be a problem for the other cities in the itinerary
- The biggest open question right now is the nuclear plant situation. They are struggling to get it under control. It is pretty far away from Tokyo, but still scary.
- Tsunami warnings have been lifted but may go into effect again if another big quake happens.
- Tokaido shinkansen (which is the train line that goes West towards the cities on the itinerary) is running again. Airports are also open.
